BACKGROUND

In Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, local entrepreneurs play a crucial role in driving economic growth, fostering community development, and enhancing social cohesion. Yet, they face several significant challenges that limit their potential. These include limited access to financing, gaps in business skills and education, infrastructure deficits, restricted market access, regulatory hurdles, and socio-cultural obstacles.

TUSONGE, a Tanzanian NGO, focuses on supporting marginalized groups within grassroots communities in the Kilimanjaro region. Through its Economic Empowerment program, TUSONGE aids small-scale local entrepreneurs. However, securing resources for ongoing support, monitoring, and evaluation remains a struggle, and ensuring long-term sustainability is challenging, especially as beneficiaries sometimes move to other organizations that provide direct financial assistance.

in 2025 You're invited to

Use your skills to enhance the business endeavors of local small scale entrepreneurs

Based on community consultations by the TUSONGE staff, local entrepreneurs face the following challenges.

1. Access to Capital and Resources

WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE VENTURE 2 IMPACT?

As a well-educated and skilled professional, we believe that it is more fulfilling to use your energy and volunteering time to share your skills and build resilient communities rather than the alternative, which is usually going abroad to do something that’s not related to your skills at all (building a structure, painting, etc).

Basic, intermediate or fluent Swahili language skills (an asset but not an absolute must!)

Familiarity with Google Drive and/or Microsoft Office (also an asset but not an absolute must!)
